UP STF neutralizes second accused in Sultanapur jewellery heist

While one was killed in police firing, another accused fled from the spot

The UP Special Task Force (STF) neutralized second accused in the Sultanpur jewellery store robbery case in Unnao. 

 

The police stated that an encounter took place in Unnao district. During the encounter, one accused was injured, while another managed to escape. 

 

The injured has been identified as Anuj Pratap Singh, son of Dharamraj Singh, a resident of Janapur village in Amethi district.

 

The injured was immediately sent to the government hospital for treatment. However, after initial medical care, he was referred to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police added. 

 

On September 5, the Special Task Force (STF) killed another accused, Mangesh Yadav, triggering a political row. 

 

As per the case details, around Rs 1.5 crore worth of jewellery was stolen from a store in the Thatheri Market area of Sultanpur city on August 28.

The police then swiftly arrested four key accused- Vivek Singh, Durgesh Singh, Arvind Yadav, and Vinay Shukla. 

 

 

During the operation, authorities recovered 2.25 kilograms of gold, 20 kilograms of silver, and a substantial amount of cash. The mastermind behind the robbery, Vipin Singh, surrendered to the police the day after the crime, police added.
