U.P.Police Released Booklet In Support Of Swiss Couple

In a rendition of moral support to recuperating Swiss couple, who were attacked in Agra by some anti-social elements, the Uttar Pradesh police released a booklet for them wishing “Get Well Soon”. However, it is being considered an unprecedented move by a police force, but top brass is stressing their aim to reassure the tourists for their safety and security in the state.

DGP of U.P.Police, Sulkhan Singh, ADG Crime Chandraprakash and ADG Sanjay Singhal have released this booklet. It is containing the “Get Well Soon” messages from Twitter for Swiss nationals Quentin Jeremy Clerc and his girlfriend Mary Droxz. They were chased and stoned by a group of men at Fatehpur Sikri near Agra on October 22. The skull of Jeremy and Marie’s bones were fractured.

After facing initial embarrassment, U.P.police made arrests of accused persons in this case. Many Twitter users worldwide shared their concerns for the couple after this vicious attack. U.P.police compiled some of these tweets in this 76-page booklet, including those posted by the minister of external affairs Sushma Swaraj. 300 copies of the booklet were prepared by the U.P.Police. DGP Sulkhan Singh said in a statement that “Uttar Pradesh police aims to strengthen policing and make it more humane and friendly for tourists. This effort (releasing the booklet) is part of the drive.”
