18 officers of Delhi Police receive medals on Independence Day

Senior IPS officer Atmaram Vasudeo Deshpande received the prestigious medal for distinguished services

New Delhi, August 14

18 officials of Delhi Police have been conferred medals for their services including two with President’s Medal for Distinguished Service and 16 Medal for Meritorious Service, on the occasion of Independence Day-2024.

Senior IPS officer Atmaram Vasudeo Deshpande received the prestigious medal.

He joined Goa Police Service in the year 1998 as Dy Superintendent of Police through Goa Public Service Commission and was inducted in IPS in the year 2011. He was entrusted with various important assignments in Goa and had excelled in all the assignments and responsibilities. He was awarded with Goa Chief Minister’s Gold Medal (Police) for meritorious service in 2011. 

In 2013, He was awarded President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service and in 2017 he was also received DGP’s Insignia for exemplary performance in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. During his tenure as Addl CP/SPUWAC, Delhi the functioning and working of the unit was made efficient and goal oriented. As Addl CP/Headquarters (Welfare), he was instrumental in successful set up of Welfare Unit of Delhi Police and made it operational within a short period of time.  He also worked hard to reinitiate the grievances redressal initiative of CP Delhi ‘Jansunwai’.  As General Secretary of Police Foundation for Education Delhi, made remarkable contribution in overall management of all the three branches of Delhi Police Public School. Presently posted as Joint CP Operations, Delhi, he is managing Deployment, PCR and Communications units.

Shashi Bala, ACP (Retd.)

She was enlisted in Delhi Police as constable in the year 1985 and got selected as Sub Inspector in the year 1988 through competitive exam and recently retired after completion of service in the month of July, 2024.  During her posting as Inspector she investigated several cases including rape and matrimonial dispute cases.  She also underwent a training programme on Counselling Skills from Jamia Millia Islamia, NIPCCD and utilized those skills to reconcile the matrimonial issues.

Medal for meritorious services

Suman Goyal, Jt. CP (IPS 2005): 

She has served in Delhi, Mizoram and Goa in various capacities. As ACP, she has worked as SDPO (North West and North Districts), ACP/Cyber Cell & EOW. She also served as SP/Saiha District, the border Distt. of India and Myanmar.  During her tenure as DCP/SW District, she made an innovative use of IT tools to monitor dark spots from women safety point of view and also introduced Pink Cabs with women drivers, in coordination with local travel agencies. For crime control and detection, she also got CCTVs installed by RWAs, and MWAs. As SP/Traffic in Goa she supervised the smooth conduct of BRICS and BIMSTEC summits in 2016. She also worked as DCP/Special Branch in 2018 and Addl CP/Vigilance in 2019 and thereafter, as Addl. CP/Traffic Headquarter and Eastern Range, she worked to ensure smooth flow of traffic by decongesting the identified corridors. Green corridors for oxygen-carrying vehicles and ambulances were ensured along with staff welfare during Covid pandemic. 

During her tenure as Addl. CP/Central Range, Project Udaan was launched in North District to mainstream women officer’s empowerment at the grassroots level. Maximum number of women staffs were deployed in beats after imparting refresher training in various aspects of policing. During G-20 Summit, she was nominated as Security Commander of Airports. Meticulous planning, seamless coordination was ensured between the various government agencies for the arrival/departure of the Heads of States, International Organisations.  

Presently posted as Jt. CP/Rashtrapati Bhawan, she has always ensured comprehensive security arrangements during various important national and international events organized in Rastrapati Bhawan Complex including the Foreign Ministers Meeting held at RBCC, Rashtrapati Bhawan in connection with the G-20 Summit, At-Home Function at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the occasion of Republic Day-2024.

Dr. Rajneesh Garg, DCP

He joined Delhi Police as an Assistant Commissioner of Police in DANIPS cadre in the year 2003. He was first posted as SDPO, Police Radio Officer (PRO) and Dy. S.P.(Headquarters) in A & N Islands subsequently as ACP/Preet Vihar in East District. His medical and forensic medicine background gave him an edge to understand a crime scene better and solve the crime expeditiously. As ACP Licensing, he was pivot in getting ISO Certification for various services to the unit from STQC. He also worked as Addl. DCP North & Rohini Districts and as while being Deputy Commissioner of Police in Cyber Crime Unit and EOW he investigated several important cases and was the Additional Nodal Officer for the ambitious Safe City Project of Delhi 

Police during the tenure. He also served as ADC (tour) to Hon’ble CM Haryana while being on deputation. Being the personal staff of the Hon’ble CM Haryana, he aided and advised the Chief Minister on various matters. He additionally served as State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyaan in the State of Haryana and also as SP, Security to the Chief Minister. During G-20 Summit 2023, as a Venue Commander of Hotel ‘The Lalit’, New Delhi he coordinated with the officials of security/civic agencies and supervised every facet of the arrangements at the hotel. Presently he is posted as DCP/Licensing. After taking charge in 2023 he cleared the pendency in a systematic manner and also took the initiative of complete overhaul of procedure related to Arms License and the SOP for processing Arms License application was also reviewed. Besides, with his consistent hard work, the Unified Portal of MHA was implemented in Licensing Unit for grant of license for eating/lodging houses.
 

Satya Pal Singh, ACP (Statistical/JRO)

He was enlisted in Delhi Police as a Constable (Exe.) in the year 1989 as was later selected as an SI (Statistician) in the year 1994 and presently performing his duties as ACP/Research Cell, Crime Branch. He is hard-working, trustworthy officer and has the unique distinction of having a blend of policing and administrative experiences. He works dedicatedly to meet the requirements of the task and always remains ready to shoulder additional responsibilities of other offices of the department too. He also possesses a very good institutional memory of Delhi Police. He has worked on various research studies conducted by Delhi Police from time to time and supervises the work of Crime Data of Delhi Police for meetings of MHA, Hon’ble LG Delhi, DGsP/IGsP Conference, Parliament Questions, Northern Zone Council and Interstate and Co-Ordination meeting. NCRB publication “Crime in India” and “Accidental Death and Suicide” are also being compiled under his command and supervision.

Arvind Kumar, ACP

He joined Delhi Police as Sub Inspector (Exe.) in the year 1992 and since joining his performance has remained outstanding throughout. In recognition of his efforts while neutralizing two gangsters he was granted out of the turn promotion to the rank of Inspector and he also received Police Medal for Gallantry in the year 2005 for neutralizing two terrorists. He was key member of team solving bomb blast cases of Satyam-Liberty Cinema, Sarojini Nagar Market and busting FICN, illegal firearm, drugs syndicates and arresting highway robbers with a recovery of more than Rs 2 crores. He is also a recipient of Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for solving Rohit Shekhar Tiwari murder case. He remained the key member of the SITs investigating several important cases including North-East Delhi riots case, Tablighi Jamaat Delhi Markaz case.  Presently as ACP Operation/West district, he has exhibited exemplary leadership in solving several heinous cases which includes Ajay Chaudhary murder; Hari Nagar triple murder, Tilak Nagar Swiss lady murder. His able leadership also led to tracing of more than 250 missing persons, over 150 Absconders and also to the arrest of more than 100 wanted Robber/snatchers/habitual criminals.

Renu Lata, ACP

She joined Delhi Police as Sub Inspector (Exe.) in the year 1988 and has experience of working at various districts and units of Delhi Police including CAW Cell, Vigilance, Additional SHO at PS Anand Parbat, Special Executive Magistrate/Central district. As ACP CAW Central District she efficiently supervised matrimonial disputes, rape, molestation, SC/ST Act cases, and enquired sexual harassment complaints. Under her able supervision as ACP/Self Defence wing of SPUWAC the Self Defense wing of SPUWAC won the Skoch Award for Police and Safety for Sashakti-2022. She also supervised the "Violence-Free Home" project, women safety issues in GNCT Delhi, and meetings of Crisis Intervention Centers and NGOs working on women’s issues. On the occasion of International Women’s Day-2023, she was felicitated by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Delhi for performing exceptionally well in her field of work. Presently she is posted as ACP/SPUWAC.

Niraj Tokas, ACP

She joined Delhi Police as Head Constable (Min.) in the year 1992 and later in the year 1994 she was selected as Sub Inspector (Exe.).  During her tenure at SPUWAC, she handled around 900 complaints through her professional counseling skills and also organized self-defense programs under the Sashakti Scheme, training 8,000 girls and women. She also encouraged the public for installation of around 1000 CCTV cameras in Dwarka area. As Presiding Officer of the Internal Complaint Committee for Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace, she maintained a zero-tolerance policy. Presently under her supervision as ACP/CR Park, several heinous cases, including murder attempt to murder, rape, POCSO, and NDPS Act were successfully solved and she also investigated cases of SC/ST Act.  She has always focused on timely disposal of cases. Dinesh Chander Pundora, ACP

He joined Delhi Police as ASI (Steno) in the year 1988 and is presently posted in Vigilance unit. As ACP/Security he was nominated for taking a session on Security of G20 events at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur in April 2023 jointly organized by BPR&D & MEA.  As ACP/Security Delhi Police, he was assigned the work of ACP/G20 Desk in Security Unit from July, 2022 till its conclusion in November, 2023. The methodical attention combined with cohesive and synchronized team work and quick response to the emergent situations had been the feature as ACP/G20 Desk. He had to attend various meetings, marathon drafting of letters to different agencies for mobilization of manpower, procurement of equipment and training of the staff as multiple security agencies were involved. Regular liaison with the various premier agencies like MHA, IB, SPG, MEA, CAPFs and Heads of State Police Departments, personally collecting the bullet proof cars for the foreign Heads of State and getting them delivered to concerned security agency were some of the few important assignments given to him which he carried out with utmost sensitivity and sincerity. On successful completion of the G20 Summit, CP Delhi awarded him a Special Commendation and Disc in recognition of his commitment and contribution.
