19 Officers and personnel of Delhi Police have been conferred Police Medals for their Services on the occasion of Independence Day 2022.
While one official have received Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG/(Posthumously), two have been conferred with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
16 officials have received Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Late Ct.(Exe.) Anand Singh has been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG)/(Posthumously); Pancham Chand, ACP & Shivaji Chauhan, ACP have been awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished services.
DCP Bhisham Singh, Harish HP, DCP, Indu Bala, ACP, Raj Rani Sharma, ACP, SI (Now Inspector) Braham Prakash, Inspector (Steno) Shakti Suman Pandey, Inspector Renu Sharma, ASI Suresh Kumar & HC (now ASI/Mounted ) Subhash Chander are among those who have been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
DCP Bhisham Singh is one of the trusted and experinrced officers of Delhi Police.
The officer is best known for his initiatives in implementation of new technology in police working. He was appointed to DANIPS in the year 1998 and was inducted into the Indian Police Service, AGMUT cadre in December 2019. During the course of his services up till now, the applicant has under-gone various postings.
During his illustrious career he has been awarded “Police Medal for Gallantry” by the President of India in 2009 for successfully leading the operation in which a notorious criminal gang was neutralised in an encounter. He was also awarded “Utkristh Seva Padak” in the year 2019.
He has investigated sensational murder case of journalist Soumya Vishwanathan and invoked MCOC Act on the gang involved in this case. He has arrested many terrorists, operators, underworld criminals and spies.
He has also worked as DCP Crime Branch, Delhi Police for more than 7 years and supervised the unit efficiently contributing immensely in crime detection, prevention and meticulous investigation. Presently he is working as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Security (PM Cell) in Protective Security Division of Delhi Police.
Late constable Anand Singh has received Police Medal for Gallantry.
Singh was martyred while probing an assault case in SB Dairy police station area.
On the night of August 2016 a PCR call regarding quarrel was received at PS S.B. Dairy. It was stated that three boys came on a motorcycle and one of them pointed a pistol at complainant. They robbed Rs. 2500/- and one mobile phone from her. Meanwhile someone raised alarm and Constable Anand Singh, who happened to be on duty reached the spot.
Constable Anand Singh without caring of his life chased them on which one of the robbers fired at him. He sustained gunshot injury and collapsed.
Two ACPs of Delhi Police, ACP Pancham Chand and ACP Shivaji Chauhan, have been conferred with conferred with President's Medal for Distinguished Services.
ACP Pancham Chand was initially appointed as HC (Min.) in Delhi Police in 1982 and thereafter joined again as ASI (Stenographer) in 1985. He was promoted to the rank of SI (Min.) in 1991 and further promoted as Inspr. (Min) in 2006. He was assigned to look after the charge of ACP in 2016 and inducted in the DANIPS Cadre from July 2017.
During 2016-17 while he was posted as ACP/Confidential Branch, promotions to more than 26,000 police personnel in various ranks were granted for the first time in the history of Delhi Police. During his entire service span of more than 40 years, he has unblemished service record. He has been granted 7 Commendation Rolls by the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, 34 Commendation Certificates and 119 Commendation Cards. For his outstanding performance he was granted Police Medal for meritorious service on the occasion of Republic Day-2013. He was also granted “Commissioner of Police Commendation Gold Disc” in 2019.
ACP Shivaji Chauhan was enlisted in Delhi Police in 1984 and remained posted in Computer Centre, Traffic Unit till 1996. During the posting he contributed in development of Payroll System, Accident Analysis System, Prosecution Statistics System, MT Billing System, Prepaid Taxi/TSR Ticketing System, Bio-data Reporting Module. In 1996, he was posted in CRO and he remained instrumental in development of Pay Fixation application, Zonal Integrated Police Network, MACT System, Online Criminal Dossier System, Online FIR Upload System, Crime Criminal Information System, Gangs Monitoring System, Lost Report Application, MV Theft Application, SMS Applications, Data Mining, Portrait Building System, Face Recognition System, Senior Citizen Application, Delhi Police Website maintenance, FIREWALL implementation and monitoring, Network Management in interfacing with intranet/internet.
He was the first SHO/e-PS, Crime Branch. He also imparted training on MVT Application for eCourt operations in Delhi. As SHO e-police station, Crime Branch he was decorated with President Police Medal for Meritorious Services and National e-Governance Award for Silver Medal in 2016. In February, this year, he has been felicitated by CP Delhi for his contribution in Technical Initiatives of Delhi Police.
