The Delhi Police South East District arrested a Bhojpuri movie actor who was allegedly found involved in a fake currency racket.
The accused was identified as Mohd Shahid alias Raj Singh alias Lallan of Batla House and Sayyad Zen Hussain of Okhla Jamia Nagar.
DCP (South East) RP Meena stated that the duo used to cheat people in markets of Lajpatnagar, Nehru Place, New Friends Colony with fake currency notes. The police have seized fake currency notes worth Rs. 50 lakhs from them.
The police said, the teams working on auto lifters received input that an inter state gang if auto lifters is operating in South East District. The special police team laid a trap at CC market in New Friends Colony. The police saw one black colour Honda actica scooty bearing registration No UP23H xxxx coming from Surya Hotel side which was intercepted. On enquiry, the motor cycle rider was identified as Sayyad Zen Hussain and the pillion rider was identified as Md Shahid. During the verification, the vehicle was found to be stolen from Okhla Jamia Nagar. When the police checked the vehicle, they found 200 wads of fake currency notes from their bag which was in possession of the accused.
The police stated that during the investigation, accused Md Shahid disclosed that he is running a film studio in the name of Sahil Sanny Film Production at Hari Nagar Ashram Delhi where he reportedly edits films and makes portfolios for upcoming actors. Md Shahid has also worked in a Bhojpuri movie ‘Allahabad to Islamabad’. Apart from this he acted in some Bhojpuri songs which are available on Youtube.
The police added that during his business, he came in contact of a con and started to cheat the persons on the pretext of fake notes by inducing the people of their genuine currency. He used to give to people three notes of fake currency in exchange of one stating them to be appearing like genuine and may be used in the market freely like genuine. Meanwhile, during the lockdown he suffered a huge financial loss and came in contact with auto lifter Sayyad Zen Hussain of Jamia Nagar and he started stealing two wheelers.
The police further said, in September 2020, Md Shahid along with his associate Sayyad Zen Hussain stole a Honda Activa from Jamia Nagar. They were using the vehicle to cheat the people. On the fateful day too, they were going to cheat the people at CC market, New Friends Colony, but got busted.
Explaining further about their cheating, the police said, both used to target persons in the market area of Nehru Palace, Lajpat Nagar and New Friends Colony. On the pretext with fake notes they used to induce to the people of their genuine currency. They used to give three fake currency notes in exchange of one genuine currency note to the people stating that it may be used in the market freely like genuine.
The police stated that Mohd Shahid was previously involved in eight criminal cases of cheating, snatching and arms act while Sayyad Zen Hussain works as a taxi driver to earn his livelihood. No previous involvement has been found against him.
