The Border Security Force (BSF) hosted the 4th edition of the Bordermen Marathon 2025 with the theme #Hand in Hand With Border Population on 23rd February 2025, in Amritsar.

The event was graced by DG BSF Daljit Singh Chawdhary adding to the prestige of this grand marathon.

Since its inception in 2022, this annual event, organized by BSF under the aegis of the Athletics Federation of India, has grown tremendously in scale and stature.

This year, it has attracted over 5200 participants including professional athletes from India and abroad, making it one of the most anticipated sporting events in the region. The enthusiastic participation of youth from Punjab’s six border districts further strengthens its significance.

The marathon features three main race categories:

Full Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.097 km), and the 10 km Run , offering a platform for both experienced athletes and amateur runners. r

BSF stated that the runners are not only from India’s border regions but also from different parts of the country and abroad, including international professional athletes who will compete alongside local talent. In a special initiative to promote women’s participation in sports, BSF has announced free registration for women across all categories, encouraging greater involvement and representation.

Recognized by the Athletics Federation of India, the marathon route will take runners through iconic landmarks and scenic stretches, starting from Golden Gate, Amritsar, to JCP Attari. Participants from all age groups and categories (men and women, below and above 40 years) will compete for prizes worth Rs. 1.5 lakh for the Full Marathon, Rs. 75,000 for the Half Marathon, and Rs. 40,000 for the 10 km run.

Additionally, to recognize and encourage youth from border areas, a special category has been introduced, where the top three finishers in each category will be awarded high-quality bicycles.

The border communities have shown overwhelming enthusiasm for this marathon, with a significant increase in participation from the youth of Punjab’s border districts. These young runners, alongside national and international athletes, are fostering a spirit of healthy competition, resilience, and unity.

Bordermen Marathon 2025 is more than just a race—it is a celebration of fitness, sportsmanship, and national pride. It also aligns with the Fit India Movement and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Initiative), reinforcing BSF’s commitment to channelizing the energy of youth into constructive and meaningful activities. Local residents are encouraged to come out and cheer for the runners, making this event an unforgettable experience filled with energy, passion, and unity.
