Clashes erupt in MP during Hanuman Jayanti procession, 13 injured

Nine people have been arrested following communal clashes that erupted in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district during a Hanuman Jayanti procession. 13 people were injured in the incident. Police have arrested nine persons so far.
The police informed that the incident took place near a mosque when members of two communities confronted each other as the procession passed through, leading to a violent exchange. Police said when the procession reached near a place of worship, some people objected to the loud DJ music and offensive religious slogans. The heated exchange between the groups suddenly turned violent.
The police stated that the procession lacked permission to proceed through the area, and a “communication gap” contributed to the face-off between the groups. The procession was forcefully taken out and was stopped near the religious place of a particular community and slogans were raised. Due to which a situation of dispute arose between the two sides.
The police immediately controlled the situation and brought both sides under control.
The police have registered a case based on a complaint by a local corporator, naming 4-5 individuals while identifying 15-20 others.
