Delhi Crime Branch arrested a fugitive cheat who was impersonating as doctor in Meerut

Delhi Crime Branch arrested a fugitive cheat who was impersonating as doctor in Meerut. The fugitive had escaped from police custody in Mumbai in year 2019. 

The accused was identified as Manish Kaul, son of a master cheat lodged in Tihar Jail.

He was found running clinic in Meerut. He also married two women by faking identity and has children from both. 

Delhi Crime Branch, Additional CP, Shibesh Singh stated that Manish is a master cheat and wanted in numerous cases of cheating registered at various police stations across the country. He is involved in more than 27 criminal cases. He had escaped from Delhi Police 3rd Battalion custody in Mumbai in the year 2019. 

Following the mounting of physical and technical surveillance, the agency narrowed him down at Shastri Nagar, Meerut, UP. He got caught when he ordered some food from the online food ordering and delivery platform ‘Swiggy’. A trap was laid and Manish Kaul was apprehended from a Nursing Home in Shastri Nagar, Meerut. 

The crime branch officials said that  Manish was born in a wealthy family in Ambala Cantt. His father was running medicine factory in Ambala Cantt area. He did his BUMS (Bachelor in Unani & Homeopathic) in 2006 from Jalandhar. 

He first cheated his company in Saharanpur of Rs. 50,000/- from one of his dealers. From 2002 to 2008, he was booked in several cases of cheating while running his medicine factory. 

The officials added that In 2007, he came in contact with a Lady School Teacher of Patel Nagar, Delhi through a newspaper advertisement. He posed as a doctor and married her. A daughter was born out of this wedlock.

In November 2014, he created a profile at Jeevansathi.com claiming to be a MD, MBBS Doctor (unmarried) working as Physician in a Hospital in  Sangrur, Punjab and that his father was also MD, MBBS Doctor and ex-Navy retired Officer (AFMC). A Lady doctor from Ashok Vihar, Delhi got in touch with him through the online marriage portal. They got married in 2015 at Chhatarpur. A son was born out of this wedlock. 

However, his doctor wife soon found out about his activities got a case registered against him under cheating, forgery, Threatening, MCI Act, DMC Act etc. at PS Moti Nagar on 22.03.2018. He came to her clinic with a loaded pistol to eliminate her. However, she called the police. He tried to flee after firing on the police party, but was arrested for Attempt to Murder, at PS Kirti Nagar.

After absconding from Mumbai police custody he reached Sumerpur, Pali, Rajasthan, where his father was residing and had opened a hospital in name Maa Ashapura Multi Speciality Hospital.

He stayed with his father for about 5 months till his father was arrested in a cheating case in Rajasthan. He settled down in Gurugram. Thereafter, about a year ago, he changed his identity and started working in a Meerut Hospital as Dr. Vikrant Bhagat. 

The agency said that Manish was involved in as many as 27 criminal cases registered against him in Delhi, Mumbai, Panchkula, Goa, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Faridabad, Jaipur, Kerala, Ambala and Kashipur, Uttarakhand. His crimes include impersonation, cheating, forgery, attempt to murder, possession of illegal arms and theft. 

In addition to that, Manish impersonated as a doctor and cheated countless innocent people. He worked at 11 different hospitals, clinics and nursing homes, and had drawn handsome salaries of around Rs. 1.5 lakhs per month, posing as an MBBS, MD doctor.
