The Delhi Crime Branch held a wanted criminal, who was on the run since December 2024, when he committed the alleged rape.
The accused has a historysheet of 33 cases.
The police said they received information that Javed would come to Wazirabad and a team laid a trap in the area to arrest him.
Javed was spotted getting off his motorcycle at the Jagatpur Pusta road. and was asked to verify his identity. Instead of complying, the police said, Javed took out a pistol and shot at Head Constable Vikas, officials said.
Vikas caught hold of the accused Javed. Both got into a scuffle and then fell on the ground before the accused was finally arrested, crime branch added.
According to the police, Javed raped his friend’s wife at gunpoint in the Nabi Karim area in December 2024. The woman filed a complaint in January 2025, saying that in May 2024, she came into contact with a man. She got pregnant with his child, but the man beat her, leading to a miscarriage. In December 2024, Javed came to her. He carried a pistol with him and raped her on gun point. Javed’s friend was arrested in the case, but he was on the run, the police stated.
In 2021, he, along with his associates, committed a dacoity at gunpoint in a house in the Uttam Nagar area. He came out of jail in December 2024, and got married the second time in January 2025, officials further added.
