New Delhi, April 14

The Delhi Crime Branch arrests two foreign nationals and seized drugs valued at over Rs 1 crore while busting an international drug cartel operating in the city.

The operation was carried out under the police’s Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a policy of zero tolerance against drugs.

The duo have been identified as Humphrey Muwong, a 33-year-old Ugandan national, and Chukwu Ebuka Umeh, a 36-year-old Nigerian. On April 3, a raid was carried out at Krishna Park Extension in Tilak Nagar. During the search, 700 gm of high-quality smack/chitta were found on them.

The accused allegedly revealed that they were working on the instructions of Dagri Jean Marc, a Nigerian national currently operating from Africa. Marc had previously lived in India and established a network based in Tilak Nagar, facilitating the supply of narcotics through operatives who entered India under the pretence of studying at private universities.

Both arrested men had been residing in India since 2019.  Muwong had been arrested under the NDPS Act in 2023 and was currently out on bail, officials added.
