Lieutenant Governor (L-G) V K Saxena distributed special “smart” identity cards to over 400 senior citizens who participated in an event organised by the Delhi Police.
The specially-designed smart identity cards featuring QR codes would contain personal details like health conditions to help emergency responders.
These cards include critical health and emergency details, aimed at enabling prompt aide in times of need.
The Delhi police also honoured senior citizens above 90 years of age were honoured, with two exceptional seniors, Roshan Lal Gupta and Colonel Y L Sood, recognised for their contributions and dedication.
Roshan Lal Gupta, a former defence auditor, maintains his passion for fitness and still pursues mountain climbing at the age of 71. Colonel Y L Sood, a decorated war veteran, received the Vishisht Seva Medal for serving in three counter-insurgency tenures and remains committed to social causes post-retirement.
During the interaction, ‘Samvad’, senior citizens shared grievances and concerns with Saxena, who assured swift resolution.
In his address, L-G Saxena highlighted the success of the Delhi Police’s Kutumb app, which has received an encouraging response from senior citizens.
The app aims to strengthen community policing by fostering better communication between senior citizens and the police force.
The event also featured educational sessions for senior citizens, including materials on Alzheimer’s disease, cyber health awareness, and safety tips tailored to their needs.
Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora urged senior citizens to keep the contact details of their local beat constables handy and to reach out to them in emergencies.
