The Delhi Police arrested a man for allegedly shooting his tenant over financial disputes.
The victim was identified as Rakesh, 29, and the accused as Govind Ballabh, the son of the victim’s landlord.
The police received a control room call at that body of a man was seen floating in a pond.
The police reached the victim's house where they found an empty 7.65 mm cartridge from the rooftop alongwith wiled bloodstains.
The investigators found that Rakesh’s mother revealed that her son had left home earlier with Govind, their landlord’s son, a man with whom Rakesh had a strained relationship over property and financial dealings.
The investigation revealed that the conflict between the two men stemmed from a high-stakes financial arrangement gone awry. Rakesh had been working as a loan recovery agent for him.
Govind entrusted Rakesh with Rs 5 lakh to secure a Rs 40 lakh loan, but Rakesh allegedly requested additional money without fulfilling the promised arrangement, probe revealed.
Rakesh also allegedly took possession of Govind’s luxury Mercedes car, ostensibly to sell and recover funds, but the vehicle mysteriously disappeared, added police.
