Delhi Police arrests three in Kalyan Jewellers Lajpatnagar showroom heist

The Delhi Police arrested three men for an alleged burglary at Kalyan Jewellers showroom in Lajpat Nagar in the last week of January and recovered jewellery worth Rs 1 crore from their possession.
The main accused has been identified as Shoib alias Lalla, 31, and the two receivers of the stolen jewellery as Sumit Soni, 30, and Manik Kadam, 42.
As per the case details, showroom manager of Kalyan Jewellers reported a burglary. The police team discovered broken glass displays and approximately Rs 1.5 crore worth of diamond jewellery missing. The robbers broke the glass of the washroom and entered the showroom.
The CCTV footage also captured an attempted entry into Kalyan Jewellers via the roof on January 15, but the burglar was unsuccessful. Instead, he allegedly targeted a nearby shop by breaking the bolt on the roof door. The police said cash worth Rs 26,200 was stolen from that shop between 3 and 5 am on January 15.
DCP (Southeast), Ravi Kumar Singh stated that police scanned over 500 CCTV cameras and found tha the suspect arrived at Lajpat Nagar on a (Hero) Splendor motorcycle via Ring Road. The bike belonged to Anil Kumar Gupta, who confirmed that he had dropped the suspect near Lajpat Nagar Metro station after receiving a cash payment. The investigators then checked the active numbers in the area and managed to zero in on the accused and nabbed him from Rishikesh.
The police recovered 100 grams of stolen diamonds, a gold chain (10 gm) purchased using stolen funds and 57 grams of fine quality gold, extracted by melting stolen jewellery from their possession.
