Delhi Police book UP MLA Raja Bhaiyya for domestic violence following wife's complaint

Uttar Pradesh MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh, also known as Raja Bhaiya, was booked by the Delhi Police on on charges of domestic abuse following a complaint filed by his wife Bhanvi Kumari Singh.
The police stated that Bhanvi Kumari has accused her husband of prolonged domestic abuse spanning nearly three decades, citing severe physical assaults, and emotional trauma. She has also alleged numerous instances of violence, including an attack in 2015 that left her with fractured ribs and internal injuries. He has been accused of making death threats against his wife.
In 2023, Bhanvi Kumari had approached the National Commission for Women and Delhi State Legal Services Authority but withdrew her case, hoping for reconciliation.
In her complaint, she has written that in November 2022, her husband filed for divorce, which remains pending in a district court in Delhi. As per her complaint, continued abuse and alleged death threats have compelled her to seek legal action.
An FIR was registered at Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave police station on March 7.
