Delhi Police continue aiding oxygen supply in Delhi hospitals

Delhi Police continue aiding oxygen supply in Delhi hospitals and patients who are gasping for life during the second wave of Covid. 

NORTH DISTRICT

At around 6:00 PM, an intimation regarding acute shortage of oxygen supply in Burari Govt. Hospital, Kaushik Enclave,Delhi was received in Burari police station There are hundreds of patients getting treatment for COVID-19 in the hospital, out of which many are on Ventilator.  All the patients were on Oxygen Support. The oxygen suppliers were liaised with. Immediately, a team led by Inspector Ashok left to Pooth Khurd, Kanjhawla Oxygen Refilling Plant along with a vehicle carrying 85 empty Oxygen Cylinders. The team worked whole night and by creating Green Corridor escorted 85 refilled Oxygen Cylinders back to Burari Govt. Hospital and delivered the same at around 5:30 AM. 


At around 7:30 AM, representatives of Kapil hospital telephonically informed Inspector Ashok Kumar, SHO Burari regarding acute shortage of oxygen in Kapil Super Speciality Hospital, Nathupura, Burari, Delhi. They also told that there are 45 COVID patients admitted in the hospital, out of which 5 are on Ventilator. All patients are on Oxygen Support. The oxygen suppliers were liaised and the possibility of getting oxygen Cylinders in quickest time was explored. Accordingly, a Green Corridor was formed and 5 Oxygen Cylinders, having 45 Cubic Litre Oxygen in each Cylinder, was immediately provided to the Hospital at around 8:45 AM,after liaising and arranging the same from DTC Depot Rajghat. 


Later at around 6:30 PM,representatives of Kapil Super Speciality Hospital again called Insp. Ashok Kumar, SHO Burari and informed that there is again acute shortage of oxygen in the hospital. The required oxygen was to be delivered from an oxygen plant but it could not be done due unavoidable circumstances. The police team again started working restlessly and liaised with Oxygen Suppliers and a team led by SI Satender Singh was sent to a Oxygen Refilling Centre at Bawana Industrial area with 25 empty Oxygen Cylinders. The team worked persistently and after collecting the refilled oxygen cylinders from refilling Centre at Bawana, a Green Corridor was again created and escorted the Oxygen Vehicle carrying 25 Oxygen Cylinders(45 CubicLtr Oxygen in each) back to Kapil Hospital and delivered the same to the hospital at around 3:30 AM early in the morning.


At around 2am SHO Subzi Mandi received the information from St. Stephen’s Hospital that one Liquid Medical oxygen tanker is coming from Linde India Limited, Fadabad carrying 4.84 MT liquid oxygen, the same may be escorted up to the hospital. Immediately, PS Subzi Mandi staff was sent to escort the tanker and create Green Corridor for its quickest delivery in the hospital. The team handed over the said Tanker of liquid oxygen in St. Stephen Hospital at 04:04 AM in the morning.

At around 7:30 AM, a call about the death of a homeless man who was staying at the footpath near parking lot of Tis Hazari Metro Station, was received in Civil Lines police station. Immediately, ASI Vikesh rushed to the spot and found a person, later identified as Kailash Ramchandra Singh, R/o Amroha, UP, 65 yrs, has died due to illness. On the cursory search of the dead body, a paper having a mobile number was found. The mobile number was called many times but nobody responded. The body was shifted to Mortuary at Subzi Mandi. Next day again calls were tried at the above number and one Mr Nanhe responded from the other side. He informed that he is younger brother of Kailash. Kailash had left the home 10-12 yrs ago and was unmarried. Nanhe was apprised about the death of his elder brother, but he showed his unwillingness to come for the incrimination of the deceased, giving the reasons of lockdown and said that there was no communication between them since long. He requested the IO ASI Vikesh to do the incrimination at his end. The police team of PS Civil Lines shifted the dead body to crematorium at Sarai Kale Khan and performed the last 

rituals themselves.

Sarai Rohilla police helped a family in the last ritual of an old lady. At about 2:15 PM, Inspr. Jitender Tiwari, ATO Sarai Rohilla received a distress call about the death of an old lady. The caller further informed that there are only ladies in the family except grandson of the deceased and no neighbour is coming forward to help the family in the last ritual of the deceased and need police help. It was found that one lady Balbir Kaur, 85 yrs had expired who was bedridden since long. The police team willingly come forward for the help and did the necessary arrangements for the last ritual and took the body to Adarsh Nagar Cremation Centre and conducted the last ritual.

SOUTH-WEST DISTRICT


Four hospitals namely (1) Ansari Hospital Kailashpuri Road, Main Sagarpur, New Delhi (2) World Brain Centre Hospital, Pankha Road, New Delhi (3) Aarya Hospital, Pankha Road Janakpuri, New Delhi and (4) Bhagat Chandra Hospital, Palam Colony, New Delhi telephonically requested at PS Sagarpur for urgent requirement of oxygen for Covid-19 patient who are struggling with their lives. Assessing the criticality of the situation and orders already given by the Hon’ble court for releasing the Oxygen filled in cylinders which were seized dated 23/04/21 u/s 5 The Explosive Substance Act 1908 & 285 IPC, a green corridor was made on the way to said hospitals which was personally supervised by ACP under trainee Sh. Rohit Gupta. Total 16 oxygen gas cylinders refills were supplied to above said Hospitals and other patients in need and 17 small cylinders were also refilled from big oxygen cylinders.  A PCR call was also received regarding requirement of oxygen gas at PS Palam which was also fulfilled.


SOUTH-EAST DISTRICT

At around 8 am, information was received at Lajpat Nagar police station that there was a shortage of oxygen cylinders in Vimhans hospital and the available stock would last only for two hours. 150 Covid patients were under critical situation in the hospital. Immediately, the team of Lajpat Nagar police station made its utmost efforts and arranged 56 oxygen cylinders from Mayapuri Delhi. Besides it, the regular supply of the oxygen for hospital was on the way from Surajkund, Greater Noida. A green corridor was provided by the team of Lajpat Nagar from Mahamaya flyover to Vimhans Hospital. The team escorted oxygen tanker providing free passage to ensure the timely supply of oxygen to the patients. With the remarkable effort of Delhi Police, the oxygen was made available well within time to save the life of 150 Covid patients at Vimhans Hospital. They thanked Delhi Police for their dedication towards welfare of the public.

 

At about 3:30 pm, information was received at PS New Friends Colony about the shortage of oxygen gas at Bansal hospital. Immediately, the local police swung in to action and Inspector Suman Kumar SHO/NFC with Inspector Jitender Kashyap and other available staff rushed to the hospital. DCP and SDM NFC were informed about the shortage and everyone was trying to get the supply but it was a herculean task to arrange oxygen in such short time. Life of more than 40 patients who were on oxygen support was at risk in Bansal Hospital. As the situation was very grim with several lives at stake, Police team contacted the Director of Holy Family Hospital seeking few cylinders. After getting the nod from him, ERV and QRT vehicles ran with full speed and within 15 minutes cylinders were picked up from Holy family and delivered at the gate of Bansal Hospital saving the lives of 40 patients. The attendants were so happy that tears started rolling down from their eyes and everybody was praising the role of Delhi police. Such gestures of acknowledgement of live saving efforts mean the world to us and further motivate the Delhi Police personnel to keep doing the saviour role with more enthusiasm.


A call was received at Sunlight Colony police station from Jeewan hospital that there was a scarcity of oxygen. The lives of many COVID patients were at stake. At this hour of need, staff of PS Sunlight Colony immediately rushed for the arrangement of oxygen. Their provided 29 oxygen cylinders for the treatment of the patients. The wards of the patients thanked Delhi police for this act of kindness.


Another PCR call was received at Kalkaji police station that a lady had expired in DDA Flats Kalkaji. The team of PS Kalkaji rushed to the spot and found that one lady Pushpa Anil Kumar (52), resident of DDA Flats Kalkaji Delhii died in her house, which was locked from inside. The door was broken and the body was extracted from her room. Further, it came to the notice from neighbors that she used to live alone in the house and she was suffering from old age ailment. On enquiry, it was revealed that she had no children and her husband was dead years ago. Her sister-in-law used to assist her when she needs any kind of help. Other family members of the deceased were found to be in Kanpur and they were contacted telephonically but due to prevailing situation of Covid-19, they showed their inability to come to Delhi to receive the dead body. Autopsy of the body was waived off. At this juncture, as the relatives of the deceased could not come to Delhi, the police staff took the initiative to perform the last funeral rites of the deceased. 


DWARKA DISTRICT

Information was received at PS Dwarka South Dwarka Apartment that one lady namely Jai Matnani Naresh from Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi who was Covid +ve had passed away. On receipt of information, police immediately rushed to above said address. There on enquiry it was learnt that the lady had come to Dwarka at her brother house and later on during treatment she passed away at above said address.

As there was nobody to take responsibility of cremation of the dead body of deceased lady. On humanitarian ground Dwarka Police team took responsibility of cremation of the deceased lady and the dead body was immediately shifted to cremation ground, Sector 24, Dwarka and cremation of the dead body has been done as per Hindu rites. Dwarka District Police has showed extraordinary zeal in serving humanity.


Lt. Col.  Soumen Mondal called DCP Dwarka for urgent help regarding cremation of his father in law who was Corona positive and no one was willing to help them for cremation. Even crematorium was not available. As he is posted in Leh and Can’t come to Delhi in such sort span of time. Simultaneously DCP Dwarka arranged all the requirements and the cremation of deceased Biswanath Pramanik was done. 


CENTRAL DISTRICT

An information was received regarding death of a senior citizen namely Bal Krishan Sharma (84) at Ramjas Road, Karol Bagh, Delhi. He was corona positive. His only daughter lives in USA. His grand daughter came but she was hesitant to do last rites. His wife Kanak Sharma (76) was also covid positive. SI Murari took the responsibility and he arranged for last rites of Sh Bal Krishan Sharma at Panchkuiyan Road Cremation Ground. Local police also arranged for milk etc. for Kanak Sharma. She also expired. The neighbours informed local police. Again SI Murari took this responsibility and he arranged for last rites of Kanak Sharma at Panchkuiyan Road Cremation Ground. The grand daughter namely Saumya Sharma arrived at cremation ground later in the evening. SI Murari has shown great sense of responsibility by arranging ambulance etc and cremating both the deceased. 

Another information was received from medical authorities of Delhi Heart and Lungs Hospital, Panchkuian Road that the hospital is running dangerously low stock of oxygen.  Many patients are on active oxygen/ventilator support and their life is on the stake.  The non supply of oxygen in time may be fatal for the patients and can create law & order problem also. They approached ACP PaharGanj to help. With efforts of police officials, the oxygen has been arranged from Naraina. The quick response and action by ACP Paharganj and ATO Paharganj  averted the scarcity of oxygen and saved the lives many patients of Delhi Heart and Lungs Hospital.


SHAHDARA DISTRICT

The oxygen saturation level of a senior citizen of police family was revived by the doctors. ACP Shahdara Rajesh Meena  got a much needed call from Insp Shivdarshan Crime Branch resident of GK 1 Police Housing complex for the help. His father Jagdish Prasad (85) started feeling breathlessness at around 6pm and his SPO2 level was falling drastically upto 50-55 in oximeter.  They took him to the nearby doctor but to no avail. He had been running from pillar to post to get an oxygen cylinder , his hospitalization was very imminent. Finally he called up ACP Shahdara Rajesh Meena to get his father attended at Shahdara Quarantine cum care centre, an initiative of  CP Delhi , established in Shahdara dist for the Police personnel & their immediate family members affected with Covid 19 . As soon as patient reached to facility, oxygen was made ready by the Doctors& Nursing Assistants of Hamdard foundation,an NGO&GTB Hospital working at the centre. He was given Oxygen supply without an iota delay and his SPO2 level was saturated from 57% to 90 %. Which was a not less than a miracle come back by the patient of our own police family who is 85years old.  Meanwhile patient's family got an buffer time to arrange for a bed and finally they got him admitted in a hospital at Delhi Cantt.

NORTH-WEST DISTRICT

Staff of Police Post WPIA, Ashok Vihar, distributed food and masks & Sanitizers to around 600 needy people in the area of Wazirpur. They distributed  food to the needy persons of Sapera Basti, Indra Vikas Colony and Munshi Ram Colony by staff the staff of Mukherjee Nagar police station with the help of Nirankari Mandal, Delhi.
