On 16.02.2018, on the occasion of Delhi Police Raising Day celebrations at the Parade Ground, New Police Lines, Delhi, Shri Rajnath Singh, the Hon’ble Minister of Home Affairs inaugurated the PFWS (Police Families Welfare Society) stall on completion of Parade. Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Smt. Suchana Patnaik, President/PFWS, Smt. Sushi Singh, Vice President and other senior officer wives were present on this occasion.
As a curtain raiser of Delhi Police Week, PFWS, on 13.02.2018, two Skill Development centres under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) were inaugurated by Smt. Mala Baijal, wife of Hon’ble LG of Delhi in the presence of CP, Delhi and other dignitaries of NSDC. These centers are implemented by National Skill Development Centres (NSDC), at Model Town and Narela Police colonies for imparting training on Beauty-Therapy and Cutting/Tailoring respectively.
During the Police Week, the PFWS is organizing various programmes related to public awareness and women empowerment. The ‘Green Initiative’ is organized with the help of NGO namely “Well-being out of Waste (WOW)” at Police Colony Malviya Nagar. This programme is a flagship initiative that seeks to address the crucial issue of post-consumer waste management in line with the Government’s `Swachh Bharat’ programme, ensuring the proper segregation and recycling of waste in a manner that protects and restores the environment, ensures the cleanliness and hygiene of neighbourhood and in the process creates sustainable livelihoods for a whole host of participants in the waste management process.
In collaboration with an NGO namely, “Uniting Smiling Foundation” headed by Shri Binay Dimri, a programme for ‘Safety for Women and Senior Citizens’ will be organized to promote a culture of accountability and trust between the public and the police. Three Flash Mobs were and will also organized at (i) Select City Walk, Saket, New Delhi on 17.02.2018 (ii) Metro Station, DU on 21.02.2018 & (iii) V3S Mall, Preet Vihar on 25.02.2018 where common citizens will have an interactive live sessions exposing them to uses/utility of women safety/Senior Citizen Apps launched by Delhi Police So far.
A ‘Psycho-Social Workshop’ at all 10 Welfare Centers has been designed in consultation with Dr. Namrata, a renowned Psychologist. She will counsel the police families and provide multiple resourses to overcome stress, addiction and serious mental health challenges including in-house treatment in few selected cases.
Cookery Competitions are also being organized at all welfare centers to bring forward the residents of police colonies for their active participation in welfare activities especially to nurture their culinary capability.
