DELHI POLICE SPECIAL CELL ARRESTED DHAULA KUAN RAPE CASE CONVICT WHO JUMPED PAROLE

New Delhi, February 23

The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested life convict in the infamous Dhaula Kuan rape case of 2010 in Delhi. The accused had jumped the parole and went underground. 

The convict Shamshad alias Rahul alias Khutkan (34) of Faridabad was absconding after jumping parole in this case from Wazirabad in Delhi. 

The special cell officials stated that Shamshad was an active member of Mewar based notorious inter state gang of robbers. He was wanted in 12 cases of ATM breaks and allegedly involved in 16 criminal cases in Delhi and Haryana. 

The special cell Inspector Ishwar Singh has received information that Shamshad was going to reach Gokalpuri Metro Station at Wazirabad Road between 4 to 5 PM on that day to meet his contact.  A police team was deployed to nab him.

When the police tried to nab him, Shamshad allegedly took out his pistol and opened fire. He was eventually overpowered and was disarmed.  The police seized his pistol .32 with two live cartridges.  

According to the special cell, during the interrogation, Shamshad disclosed that he is a life convict in infamous Dhaula Kuan Rape case of the year 2010. He has further revealed that he was absconding after jumping parole in said case. 

He was released from jail on parole in April 2020 in this case as a part of exercise to decongest jails in view of compliance of guidelines of Government regarding global pandemic (Covid-19).  His parole was extended due to pandemic till February 20 when Shamshad had to surrender in jail.  But instead of surrendering, he absconded and went underground.

Shamshad is an active member of Mewat based interstate gang of robbers and close associate of Liyakat (already arrested).  Shamshad with other members of this gang is wanted in 12 cases of breaking of ATMs in Delhi and taking away cash trays in a short span of two months.  Members of this gang siphoned off cash amounting Rs. 1.35 Lacs from these 12 ATMs.  Accused persons used to spray black paint at CCTV cameras after entering in ATM booths.  They used to open the ATMs with the help of gas cutter and remove the cash cabins. After removing cash, they used to throw parts of ATMs. Accused persons had used various vehicles including Creta, Scorpio etc. in commission of these crimes in Delhi.  Remaining five associates of Shamshad wanted in above cases have been identified.  

The officials said that Shamshad is a notorious criminal involved in about 16 cases including cases of attempt to murder, abduction, rape, assault on police, hurt, criminal intimidation, arms act, cattle smuggling act, burglary, theft etc. in Delhi and Haryana.  

Shamshad alongwith his four other associates had committed gang rape of a girl in Delhi in their Tata 407 in November 2010.  All five accused persons were arrested and subsequently all were convicted for life imprisonment by the court for this gruesome crime.
