Delhi Police Special Cell arrested notorious criminal in an encounter in Lucknow

The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested notorious robber after a brief exchange of fire in Lucknow.
The accused identified as Ajay alias Anuj alias Pintu Sharma of Laxminagar in Delhi was wanted in cases of robberies particularly a case of robbery of Rs. 14.95 lakhs.
DCP Special Cell, Pramod Kushwah stated that the special cell carried out a joint operation with UP Police's Lucknow crime branch after a brief exchange of fire in Lucknow UP. He was carrying a reward Rs 50000/- on his name for any information leading to his arrest in a case of armed robbery at Shahdara in Delhi.
The special cell received information that the accused had taken refuge in Lucknow, based on which the special cell formed a team that camped in Lucknow to track this movements. The team had information that the accused would come on a bike bearing Delhi registration number near GIC School Grounds in Smriti Colony of Lucknow to commit a crime. The special cell laid a trap at the spot and at about 7.35 pm, the accused was spotted coming
The officials stated that he was cornered and asked to surrender but he whipped out his pistol and fired towards the police team. The officers also fired in self defence in which accused sustained bullet injuries in both the legs. He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital where his condition is stable.
The police recovered one semi automatic pistol of .32 with four live cartridges from him and four empties were found at the spot.
As per the case details, a cash collection agent namely Jitender from Laxmi Nagar was going to deposit cash amounting Rs. 14.95 lacs in a branch of SBI Bank at Laxmi Nagar. One of the accused Dinesh with his five other associates namely Prabhat, Rajat, Nadeem riding upon three motorcycles had waylaid him and robbed him of his cash amounting Rs 14.95 lacs at gun point and fled from the spot.
The special cell officials added that the accused Ajay has been found previously arrested in more than 24 criminal cases of robbery and snatching in Delhi. He had allegedly killed a truck driver when he resisted their attempts and robbed him of his truck laden with goods in the area of Gokulpuri. He alongwith his associates had also robbed a jeweller of jewellery worth Rs two crores at gun point in Geeta Colony of Delhi in the year 2014.
