New Delhi, November 18
The Delhi Police’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has arrested four key operatives of a nationwide narcotic syndicate and seized banned drugs worth around Rs 1 crore, including Tramadol tablets and Pentazocine injections.
The four arrested have been identified as Chandan Kumar Rout, Arvind Singh, Parshuram, and Sushant Garg. A case has been registered under sections 22 and 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The crime branch stated that four properties valued at around Rs 4 crore and linked to the accused have been identified and are under investigation to trace the flow of the syndicate’s illicit funds.
The officials added that the narcotics have been tracked back to UP with the network extending to J&K.
The first arrest was on October 27 after a team of ANTF arrested Rout, a trafficker from Haryana’s Faridabad near Batra Hospital on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road in Delhi, with 6.7 kg Tramadol tablets, a commercial quantity under the NDPS Act.
The crime branch added that Rout’s arrest led the police to his primary supplier Arvind Singh, who had been operating as a licensed pharmaceutical distributor under the name of Shiva Pharma in the Okhla Industrial Area for the past five years. The investigation led officials to Parshuram, another buyer, who then further supplied the drugs to various illegal dealers.
The team seized 1,935 Tramadol tablets (1,147 grams), 615 Alprazolam tablets (93 grams), and 62 Pentazocine ampules (62 ml) from his residence in Ekta Vihar. He was arrested on November 6.
The further investigation led police to Sushant Garg, a BPharma graduate and owner of a pharmacy in Lajpat Nagar, was arrested on November 7 for distributing banned Codeine syrup and Tramadol to consumers in Jammu and Kashmir and Afghanistan, officials added.
