The most awaited book on cybercrime investigations "Cyber Encounters" written by senior IPS officer and present DGP Uttarakhand, Ashok Kumar was released in IIT Delhi,
The IIT Delhi Alumni Association hosted the book launch. The book 'Cyber Encounters' is authored by DGP Ashok Kumar and co-authored by Mr OP Manocha, Ex-DRDO Scientist and published by Penguin Random House. The foreword is written by the legendary superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
DGP Ashok Kumar is an IPS officer of the 1989 batch from the Uttarakhand cadre. His earlier path-breaking book ‘Khaki Mein Insaan’ has received the G.B. Pant Award from BPR&D and the Ministry of Home Affairs. He has also authored another consistent bestseller, Challenges to Internal Security of India, published by McGraw Hill.
OP Manocha has executed various defence projects in DRDO and is an active blogger and writer.
Presented in the form of twelve fascinating stories, the book gives an account of real cybercrimes relating to fake identity on social media, ransomware, card cloning, sextortion, and phishing, among others.
The book makes people aware of the crimes being committed in cyberspace, highlighting the modus operandi of the criminals in committing these crimes. It also provides valuable cyber tips on how to prevent being a victim of such crimes.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed personalities such as Professor Dr. Vikram Singh, Ex-DGP UP, Lt. Gen. (Retd) (Dr.) Rajesh Pant, National Cyber Security Coordinator, PMO, Mr Aman Gupta, Co-Founder and CMO - boAt, Delhi Police Commissioner - Sanjay Arora, DG ITBP - Anish Dayal Singh and DG NHRC Manoj Yadav who released the book.
The book release event was witnessed in a jam-packed hall with the presence of eminent personalities, including cybercrime investigation experts, law enforcement officials, bureaucrats, entrepreneurs, academics, faculty members, students, and media personnel.
Speaking at the event, Ashok Kumar highlighted the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating cybercrime and the need for increased awareness and capacity building in the field. OP Manocha discussed the various types of cyber threats and their impact on individuals, organizations, and nations.
A panel discussion, moderated by Ms Advaita Kala, a renowned journalist and scriptwriter of the Bollywood thriller movie ‘Kahani,’ highlighted the techniques employed by cybercriminals and the challenges faced by the police, among other issues.
The panel discussion was followed by an intriguing Q&A session where the authors answered questions from the audience and brought out the importance of the book in today’s scenario. The event concluded with a book signing session where the authors signed copies of "CYBER ENCOUNTERS" for the attendees.
The book will be highly useful for people from all walks of life, including students, policemen, businessmen, government and non-government officials, senior citizens, women, stay-at-home parents, authorities, law enforcement officers, and other professionals.
