Diamond merchant robbed off jewellery worth crores, bag of cash in Agra

The diamond merchant was tricked by two bike borne men who indicated a flat tyre and fled with jewellery, cash and his laptop

New Delhi, June 17

Two men absconded with a bag containing diamond and gold jewellery worth a crore of rupees, cash and belongings of a diamond merchant in Agra. 

A diamond merchant, Nitin Mehra, who was heading home after closing his showroom on MG Road in the city was looted by a gang of robbers. Two bike-borne men flagged that he had a flat tyre and after tricking him fled with the bag containing cash of Rs. 1 lakh, his laptop and diamond and gold jewellery. 

Mehra alerted police who swung into action, set up blockades and carried out multiple searches. The police are scanning footage from multiple CCTV cameras to identify the suspects. 

The police stated that the suspects have been identified and teams have been formed to track them down. 

The police also appealed to the public for any additional information that might be helpful in the investigation.

Meanwhile, several diamond merchants in the city called for the arrest of the accused, and for enhanced security measures.
