Dog falls off five storied building in Mumbai, kills a 3-year-old girl, owner arrested

The dog fell from the fifth floor and landed on the girl, who was walking with her mother on the narrow street below.

In a tragic and unexplained incident, a dog was allegedly thrown off from the fifth floor of an apartment in Mumbra of Mumbai and the incident killed a 3-year-old girl died when the dog fell on her. 

The CCTV footage of the area shows the dog falling from the fifth floor and landing on the girl, who was walking with her mother on the narrow street below. 

The police have arrested owner of the dog Zoher Ismail Sayyad (24). The accused claimed that he had bathed the dog and took him to the terrace to dry him up and was on leash however the dog tried to flee from the leash when he fell down. 

The victim Sanabanu Shaikh, who was out with her mother, died on the spot. The mother rushed the unconscious girl to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. 

While everyone rushed to take the girl to the nearest hospital, Muzna Sajjad (37) a local animal activist in the locality rushed to help the injured dog. Due to her timely intervention, the dog survived the incident and is under treatment at an animal shelter in Karnala. The animal lover has also told media that the persons in the said building run a breeding centre in the premises and the dog didn't jump. The woman had to call police and get into a debacle with the owner to admit the dog to a hospital. 

The Mumbra police have started an investigation to determine whether the dog fell accidentally or was deliberately thrown.

The mother of the deceased girl however hasn't filed a complaint in the case yet.
