IPS Deepam Seth takes over as the DGP of Uttarakhand Police

Deepam Seth replaces Abhinav Kumar, a 1996-batch IPS officer, who had been holding the additional charge of DGP

New Delhi, November 26

The Uttarakhand government appointed 1995-batch IPS officer Deepam Seth as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state. 

He has taken over as the 13th DGP of Uttarakhand. 

Seth replaces Abhinav Kumar, a 1996-batch IPS officer, who had been holding the additional charge of DGP.

Kumar took over as the acting DGP in November last year following the retirement of former DGP Ashok Kumar.

Seth had served as the Addittional Superintendent of Police of Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar in undivided Uttar Pradesh. He also served as the City Superintendent of Police of Agra. After the formation of Uttarakhand, he served as the Senior Superintendent of Police of Nainital to Additional Secretary Home, Inspector General of Provincial Armed Constabulary and Inspector General of Law and Order, among other posts.

He was posted as the Inspector General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police in Chandigarh on a central deportation last year.
