Kolkata police books three doctors of RG Kar Medical College for threatening junior doctors

The Kolkata police have booked aides of Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, for allegedly threatening junior doctors of Kolkata Medical College.

46 threat complaints were filed by junior doctors against Dr Birupaksha Biswas, Dr Avik De and Dr Ranjit Saha, who were close to Ghosh.

As per the case details, the accused doctors allegedly intimidated junior doctors from the boys' hostel of the medical college and threatening them with dire consequences.

Ghosh served as the principal of the hospital from February 2021 to September 2023. Despite being transferred in October 2023 but had returned back to the post triggering massive protests by doctors who were protesting after the brutal rape-murder of trainee doctor in the hospital. 

The alleged financial irregularities came to light after the trainee doctor's semi-naked body was found in the hospital's seminar hall on August 9 following which the Kolkata police formed a SIT to probe but the case was transferred to CBI on orders of the apex court. The CBI arrested Dr. Sandip Ghosh in the same case.
