Low intensity blast reported in Kerala

The blast took place in an area where heavy police presence was seen

New Delhi, May 14

A low-intensity explosion was reported at Bavode near Chakkarakkal district of Kerala amid elections. 

There was heavy police personnel in the area when the blast took place. 

The police informed that the explosive materials in ice-cream ball-shaped containers exploded in the area where tension has been simmering between the activists of the BJP and the CPI (M) for some days over some local issues.

The police have begun an investigation into the incident.
