Mother and two daughters die by suicide in Vasant Vihar of Delhi due to financial challenges

New Delhi, May 23
A mother and two daughters were found dead in their home in Vasant Vihar with police probe stating it is a case of triple suicide.
The victims have been identified as Manju (54) and her daughters Anshika (27) and Anku (25).
The police said that the women decided to die by suicide after facing immense financial constraints.
The case came to the fore when the angithi smoke spread outside the house with toxic smell and police was alerted.
The house was locked from the inside and no one was opening the door. The police staff from Vasant Vihar police station alongwith the SHO rushed to the spot.
The police said that the family first sealed their window panes with tape. Police have found they bought the angithi from an e-commerce website recently and purchased charcoal.
When the police broke open the door they found leaking gas cylinders and four suicide notes. The victim were lying on the bed and three small candles, along with an angithi, were kept in the room.
DCP (Southwest) Manoj C stated that Manju’s husband, who also owned the house, died in April 2021 of Covid and since then the family had been depressed. Manju was bedridden due to illness. The three women died of suffocation.
The forensic team collected evidences, fingerprints and other materials from the spot for analysis.
The police have registered a case of suicide and begun a detailed probe.
