A civilian has been killed after he was shot at by unknown gunmen near his home in the Kandikhas area of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The civilian, identified as Gh Rasool Magray (45) was a social activist. He received bullet injuries to his abdomen and left wrist. He succumbed to his injuries during the treatment in Handwara hospital in Kupwara.
The motive behind the gunmen shooting the civilian is not known yet.
The security forces, who are already on high alert in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the heightened military activity in the region, reached the location of the incident after receiving information about the shooting.
The police have initiated a probe.
