Delhi Police has arrested an employee of Jamia Millia Islamia Institute for sexually assaulting female student

The Delhi Police has arrested an employee of Jamia Millia Islamia Institute in Delhi for allegedly sexually assaulting a female student in the varsity.
A post-graduate student from Jamia Millia Islamia lodged a complaint against a college staff worker for allegedly assaulting her on April 27.. The accused, a 22-year-old man working in the university hostel’s mess has been arrested, police informed.
The police received a distress call on April at 9.30 pm that a woman had been harassed and molested near the college’s gates. Purported videos in the aftermath of the incident were shared widely on social media.
In the clips, the woman can be seen approaching the man asking, “Why did you do that?”. She then said, “He punched me on the chest.”
Another video showed the man surrounded by university students. He then received a slap across his face.
Student organisations of the university alleged that the incident took place in front of the college’s security guards.
A representative of the organisation also alleged that the man had been stalking the woman for some time before he took this action.
The police have booked the accused under BNS sections 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 75 (sexual harassment).
