MPPSC student found dead at a hostel room in Indore

New Delhi, May 20

A student preparing for the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) exams was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his hostel room in Indore. 

The victim was identified as Puneet Dubey (21), a B.Sc. 2nd year student of Ranjit Singh College in Indore, He was found hanging from the ceiling fan of the room. He was wearing a saree and women's makeup, and was blindfolded when the police found him.

The police stated that the incident came to light three days later, after Puneet's neighbours informed the police that a foul smell was emanating from the room.

Puneet's family used to speak to him everyday. his father told police that Puneet's last conversation was with his mother on May 16 night. He used to stay at the coaching centre from 9 am to 9 pm.

The family tried to contact Puneet, his mobile phone was switched off the whole day on May 17 but to no avail. Following that, they contacted Puneet's relatives and some of his friends in Indore. They reached his room, but the door was locked from inside, after which they informed the police.

When the police came and opened the door, they found his body. However, no suicide note was found at the spot. The police seized Puneet's laptop and mobile along with other items and launched an investigation. 

After the post-mortem was performed on Puneet Dubey, his body was taken to Udaipura to perform his last rites.
