Mumbai Police book Editor of a new channel for broadcasting explicit video of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya

New Delhi, September 6

The Mumbai police registered an FIR against editor-in-chief of news channel Lokshahi for allegedly broadcasting an explicit video purportedly of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya.

Kamlesh Sutar is the editor-in-chief of news channel Lokshahi who has been booked alongwith a media person Anil Thatte who shared its via its You Tube channel. 

The Mumbai Crime Branch was conducting an inquiry into the video after the issue was raised in the monsoon session of the State Legislature.

However, Somaiya now lodged a written complaint at the cyber police station. 

The issue was raised in the Vidhan Parishad by Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve who provided a pen drive of the alleged videos to the Deputy Chairperson of the Upper House.Danve and Sena (UBT) leader Anil Parab had sought an enquiry in the matter to check if any woman had been threatened to maintain relations with the person who is seen in the video.

The police are in the process of registering an FIR and contemplating the sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act and the IPC section pertaining to defamation.
