NIA conducts searches at multiple locations in Tamilnadu in ISIS - Hizb Ut Tahrir Facebook case

New Delhi, July 26

The NIA conducted searches at six locations in four districts- Thanjavur, Madurai, Theni and Tirunelveli districts  of  Tamil Nadu ISIS - Hizb Ut Tahrir Facebook case. 

The searches were conducted at the residence of arrested accused Abdullah alias Saravankumar and his associates. 

As per the case details, on April 10, a complaint was received by Theppakulam police station that one Abdullah alias Saravanakumar had posted  incendiary messages on  Facebook on March 23 and 25, instigating people on religious grounds to wage war against India and establish Khilafat , thus threatening the unity, security and sovereignty of India. The FIR was registered in Theppakulam, Madurai City, Tamil Nadu. The NIA had re-registered the case on May 21 and taken over the investigation. 

During searches, 22 digital devices including mobile phones, hard disks, memory cards, pen drives, laptops and many booklets  containing incriminating materials have been recovered, officials informed. 


The NIA is further investigating the case.
