NIA special court sentences a Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba ( LeT) terrorist in J&K case

The NIA special court pronounced judgement and sentenced a Pakistani LeT terrorist in a case from J&K.
The accused was identified as Mohd. Amir under sections 120B & 121A of IPC, sections 18 & 20 of UA(P) Act, section 25(1A) of Arms Act, section 5 of Explosive Substances Act, section 14 of Foreigners Act and section 6( 1A) of Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act to seven years rigorous imprisonment and fine.
The case pertains to arrest of Mohammad Amir, a Pakistani terrorist of Laskar-e-Toiba, who along with three others had illegally infiltrated into Indian territory from Pakistan along with weapons, ammunition and other war like stores with an intention to carry out terrorist attack(s) at different locations in India on the directions of their handlers based in Pakistan.
He was arrested in November 2017 from Magam, Handwara, Jammu and Kashmir while his three associates were killed in an encounter with security forces later.
After completion of investigation NIA had filed a charge sheet on 18 May 2018 against accused Mohammad Amir alias Abu Hamaas Mohammad Reyaz from Baldiya Town, Karachi, Pakistan.
After consideration of evidence brought on record during the investigation by NIA, the NIA Special Court, Patiala House New Delhi had convicted the accused Mohammad Amir.
The quantum of punishment to accused Mohd. Amir and awarded sentence for 7 different offences each ranging from two to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and fine, officials added.
