Nina Singh becomes the first woman DG of CISF, Anish Dayal Singh DG CRPF

New Delhi, December 29

The Centre has appointed Nina Singh as the Director General of CISF, making her the first woman to head a paramilitary force in the country. 

Nina Singh was serving as the Special Director of CISF after the retirement if Sheel Vardhan Singh. The Centre has now appointed Nina Singh the regular DG of CISF.  

The Centre's order read, "Nina Singh has been appointed as the DG, CISF. Singh, a 1989-batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, is currently working as Special DG, CISF. She has been appointed to the post till her superannuation on July 31, 2024".

Nina Singh was the first woman IPS officer allocated to the Rajasthan cadre where she served in many important assignments across the state. She also worked as Joint Director in the CBI during 2013-18 where she supervised many high-profile cases having national and international ramifications.

She has been working in the CISF since 2021, first as ADG and then as Special DG, and DG in-charge since August 31, 2023. 

Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) chief Anish Dayal Singh has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He wa holding the additional charge of CRPF along with serving as DG ITBP. 

Anish Dayal Singh, a 1988-batch Manipur-cadre IPS officer, was holding the additional charge of the CRPF following the retirement of incumbent S L Thaosen on November 30.

The order read, "Appointment of Anish Dayal Singh, currently working as DG, ITBP, from the date of joining the post and up to December 31, 2024, the date of his superannuation or till further orders, whichever is earlier,” the order said.

The Centre appointed Rahul Rasgotra as the new Chief of the ITBP. 

Rasgotra is serving as a special director in the IB. He is a  1989-batch IPS officer of Manipur cadre. He has been appointed to the post till September 30, 2025, the date of his superannuation. 

In IB, he earlier served in Jammu and Kashmir and was instrumental for reshaping of the multi-agency centre (MAC), a common counter-terrorism grid following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

Vivek Srivastava, a 1989-batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre, will be Director General, Fire Service, Civil Defence and Home Guards. Srivastava is at present a special director in IB.

He has been appointed to the post till June 30, 2025, the date of his superannuation, the order said. 

Shrivastava has been on central deputation from his parent cadre Gujarat since years. He first served in the Special Protection Group and then in various postings with the IB. 

He was involved in the operation leading to the arrest of Yaseen Bhatkal, one of the founder members of Indian Mujahideen (IM).
