Policeman riding bicycle killed after being hit by BMW near the Chandigarh Police Headquarters

A policeman riding a bicycle was killed after being hit reportedly by a speeding car (BMW) near the Chandigarh Police Headquarters in Sector 9.
The deceased was identified as Anand Dev (35), a constable, worked as a wireless operator.
The accused was identified as Ishan Shanker Roy (26), a resident of Sector 26, Panchkula, who was later arrested in the case, police informed.
The police said that Dev was crossing the road via the Zebra crossing near the Sector 9/10 traffic signal in evening hours when the accident took place. The accused was performing stunts in a BMW car. Due to his dangerous and high-speed driving, the vehicle collided with the bicycle of Dev, who was on his way to duty. The constable succumbed to his injuries at the spot.
The police added that the driver along with the vehicle fled away from the spot. A case was registered on under sections 281 (rash driving), 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
