The Jalandhar Police in Punjab arrested five operatives of Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa
The police also seized five foreign-made pistols were recovered from the accused during the 15-day operation launched to nab them. The accused have been arrested on charges of extortion, murder and smuggling of arms and drugs across the border.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said, “In a major breakthrough, Commissionerate Police Jalandhar arrests five operatives of Canada-based Lakhbir Landa gang in a 15-day operation. They were involved in arms and drug smuggling across the border, multiple heinous crimes such as murder, extortion, ransom and many other criminal activities in many districts of Punjab”.
In December last year, the Ministry of Home Affairs declared Cananda based Lakhbir Landa as a terrorist. Landa belongs to the Khalistani terrorist outfit, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), and was involved in the planning of a rocket attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence headquarters in Mohali in 2021.
Lakhbir Landa's name had also figured in connection with the RPG attack at Sarhali police station in Tarn Taran in December 2022.
