New Delhi, April 18
A Sub Inspector in Punjab Police have been a crusader against narcotic drugs with more than 145 FIRs registered through him against the drug peddlers and cartels in Punjab, This stellar performer Jagjiwan Ram who started his journey as a constable in Punjab Police stands tall with pride as Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav pinned a star on his shoulder promoting him as an Inspector in the force.
After joining the force as a constable in 1991, he was promoted as an ASI in 2013 and SI in 2021. e has served Punjab Police for three decades now. He is currently posted as of the incharge of Khanna Police’s anti-narcotics cell.
Jagjiwan Ram, a native of Patiala district is a former national level Kabaddi player.
Jagjiwan Ram registered 145 FIRs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotrophic Substance Act and Arms Act in just one year.
As per the records, these FIRs led to the recovery of 6.8 kg heroin, 77.5 kg opium, 8 quintal poppy husk, 1.8 kg drug ICE, 5.8 kg cannabis, 79 kg ganja, 2.39 lakh intoxicant tablets, 50 pistols, Rs 4.74 crore in cash, fake currency worth Rs 1.39 lakh, 4 kg gold and 213 kg silver.
DGP Gaurav Yadav wished him good luck. “The added star on your shoulders comes with a bigger responsibility,” he said.
Special DGP Arpit Shukla said Ram was a role model for the 80,000 strong Punjab Police force.
