Ritu, Assistant Commandant won "Sword of Honor" and other two awards in the passing out parade

New Delhi, October 28

Assistant Commandant Ritu, Officer Trainee of BSF has demonstrated the strength and power of women by securing overall "First Position" during Basic Training for Assistant Commandant (Direct Entry) Course No.45. 

She has been awarded the "Sword of Honour" at the Passing out parade held at BSF Academy, Tekanpur.

The BSF stated that the increasing participation of women as officers in the Border Security Force is not only a matter of pride for the nation, but also a source of inspiration for many who want to choose the Armed Forces as their career. It is also a step towards giving equal status to women in every field.

Women officers have proved their mettle in training and in the field during the previous batches too. These women officers motivate other young women join armed forces to serve the nation and work with their male counterparts shoulder to shoulder.

Ritu has a B.Sc in Computer Science and hails from Rohtak, Haryana. She has studied from various schools including Army School Dehradun.

Her father was in the Indian Army and died while serving in Kashmir. He had dreamed of serving the nation since childhood by joining the uniformed services. Ritu has fulfilled her father's dream to serve this country with pride.
