Two from All India Hindu Mahasabha arrested for offering gangajal in Taj Mahal

The right-wing organisations claim that the Taj Mahal is not a mausoleum but a Shiva Temple known as 'TejoMahalay'.

New Delhi, August 3

Two members of a right-wing organisation, All India Hindu Mahasabha, were arrested by Agra Police for allegedly offering 'gangajal' at the Taj Mahal in the holy month of Sawan. 

The men were identified as Vinesh and Shyam, who entered the monument after purchasing a ticket and then poured the holy water at the doors of the cellar inside the main tomb. 

The right-wing organisations claim that the Taj Mahal is not a mausoleum but a Shiva Temple known as 'TejoMahalay'.

A video of the incident went viral on social media where a man seen pouring water from a plastic bottle at the doors of the cellar leading to the basement of the Taj Mahal, which has the graves of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

They duo were arrested by the Central Industrial Security Force, which is responsible for security of the Taj Mahal and the handed over to local police. 

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the All India Hindu Mahasabha, Sanjay Jaat, demanded the immediate release of the duo.
