UP Police neutrlizes an inter state criminal in an encounter in Mathura

New Delhi, March 10

The Uttar Pradesh Police neutralized notorious criminal Phati alias Asad, who had a reward of Rs 1 lakh for his capture, at Mathura.

The police said Phati alias Asad was the leader of an interstate gang and had more than three dozen cases lodged against him in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir.

He was a resident of a village in Garh Mukteshwar, located in the Hapur district, and wanted in connection with cases of murder, dacoity, and theft.

As per the case details, the police received a tip-off indicating that Phati and two of his accomplices had taken refuge in a house under the jurisdiction of the highway police station in the district.

A special police team raided the house on march 9 morning. The criminals became aware of their presence and opened fire on them. The police retaliated, and during the exchange of gunfire, Phati suffered bullet wounds while his two accomplices managed to escape.

The police said he was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. 

The deceased was leading a gang called Chaimaar gang, which had been active for several years.
