UP Police orders probe against DSP Aniruddh Singh for allegedly slapping a SP leader

The Uttar Pradesh Police have ordered a probe against deputy SP Aniruddh Singh who allegedly slapped a Samajwadi Party leader in in Chandauli district.
The police identified the SP leader as Akhilesh Jaiswal, the son of former Nagar Palika chairperson Rajkumar Jaiswal, also an SP leader.
The video of the incident went viral on social media leading to criticism from various quarters and prompting police to take action.
The police stated that the incident took place at a polling booth during the first phase of voting for the urban local body polls under the Mughalsarai police station limits on May 4.
Chandauli SP Ankur Aggarwal ordered the probe against the officer.
The police stated that Jaiswal had gathered at the polling booth with 300-400 people and started creating a ruckus. Singh and other officials had found that Jaiwal used some objectionable language against him. The police had to use force to control the situation and in the same process Singh allegedly slapped Jaiswal.
The police stated that whether there were any lapses or the force was used without requirement, the police will probe in detail.
