New Delhi, March 5
The Uttar Pradesh government removed Renuka Mishra as the chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board (UPPRPB) following allegations of question paper leak in the police constable recruitment examination.
The UP government on February 24 cancelled the police constable recruitment examination conducted by the UPPRPB on February 17 and 18 and announced that a retest would be held again in six months.
The government also transferred the case to the UP Special Task Force (STF) for a detailed probe.
A total of 48 lakh candidates had appeared for the examination to fill 60,244 police constable positions. Over 2,370 examination centres were set up in 75 districts.
Soon after cancelling the examination, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said that those found using unfair means during the examination would face stringent action.
The CM said on X, “Those involved in using unfair means are under STF radar, and some big arrests have happened,” the CM said. In a post in Hindi on ‘X’, Adityanath said that those who toy with the hard work of youngsters will not be spared.
Mishra, a 1990-batch IPS officer, has been replaced with Rajeev Krishna, the Director of Vigilance Establishment of the UP Police.
