New Delhi, May 17
The Ghaziabad police have booked three police personnel who had allegedly sexually harassed a young girl when she went to visit the Sai Upvan city forest in Ghaziabad with her fiance on September 16. The men had come riding police control room vehicle of the Ghaziabad Police and demanded Rs 10,000 from the couple.
The three accused were identified as constable Rakesh Kumar, home guard Digambar and another unidentified man. All three accused are currently absconding from the police.
The woman had then filed a complaint with police stating that the three men had slapped her fiance and touched her inappropriately on her private parts. The accused cops continued to call and even came to her house late at night. The woman said the three of them held her and her fiance captive and harassed them for about three hours. The couple also paid them Rs 1,000 while they were harassed.
Based on the woman's complaint, the three accused were booked under Sections 354a (1)(ii) for sexual harassment and demand for sexual favours, 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code apart from relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Assistant Commissioner of Gahziabad Police said Rakesh Kumar has been suspended following the incident and a letter has been sent to Digambar's department to initiate action against him.
