36 personnel of BSF awardee medals in investiture ceremony at South Bengal Frontier

New Delhi, May 3
An Investiture Ceremony was held at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata in which 38 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were awarded President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
ADDL DG (Eastern Command) Sonali Mishra was the chief guest. IGP Ayush Mani Tiwari of South Bengal Frontier welcomed the chief guest.
The medal awardee includes 36 Serving personnel and two retired members of the Force. During the Investiture Ceremony officers, jawans and their families along with retired BSF personnel and families were in attendance with BSF fraternity today.
The President Police Medal for Meritorious Services is awarded to the members of Police Forces, Central Police/Security Organization throughout the country who have performed service of conspicuous merit and shown utmost devotion to duty. It is a prestigious medal for any member of the police force and awarded after thorough scrutiny of the individual’s performance at various level by a high powered committee.
Welcoming all the dignitaries, ADG Sonali Mishra paid tributes to the martyrs of the Force who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland at the altar of duty.
Emphasizing the constant endeavour of the Force in preparing itself in terms of strategy, infrastructure, weaponry and training, ADG Mishra referred specifically to the various operational achievements by alert Seema Praharis while thwarting the nefarious designs of Anti-National Elements.
She lauded the relentless, dedicated and clean service rendered by the medal winners and spoke about the ‘Soldierly traits and Visionary Leadership Skills’ of first Director General, Padma Vibhushan Shri K F Rustamji who is popularly referred to as “Founding Father of BSF”.
38 Medal awardees, their families and more than 300 officers, subordinates officers, and jawans along with retired BSF personnel and their family members participated in the function with great enthusiasm.
