Building collapses in Model Town of Delhi, injuring three critically

The police stated that the building was abandoned for a few years and the labourers were doing the repair work

New Delhi, August 12

At least three people were injured after a dilapidated building during rainfall in Delhi’s Model Town. Several people were trapped under the debris. The building was getting demolished due to its dilapidated condition. 

The incident took place in Mahendru Enclave where the old building, which was under renovation, collapsed, said police. 

The police stated that the building was abandoned for a few years and the labourers were doing the repair work. The incident happned when the labourers were having lunch.

The NDRF and police rushed to the spot and began the rescue operations. Three individuals were pulled out of debris and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment; their condition was reported critical. 

The officials also found out that the building was being used as a banquet hall after first saying that it was an abandoned house.

A few vehicles were also damaged in the building collapse. The owner of the property is yet to be identified, police added.
