Businessman fired at by assailants in Kolkata
New Delhi, September 14
A businessman was shot at in Kolkata's upscale southern area in Elgin area by a group of around 20 persons who stopped his car midway.
The businessman identified as Pankaj Singh was reportedly returning home with his friends in the car when he was suddenly stopped by the assailants at Gorky Sadan.
The police said that after being stopped, he stepped out of the car to look into the matter however he was assaulted. One of the accused pulled out a gun and shot at him.
The police said Singh was shifted to a hospital for treatment. The bullet had but his right arm however he is stable.
The police said the primary investigation showed that Singh has been attacked by people in business rivalry. The police are colle ring CCTV footage and other details to ascertain the accused behind the case.
The group of men who assaulted and fired at him are on the run. The police have formed teams to identify and track them.
