Chattisgarh police arreste Naxalite commander wanted in 2018 IED blast that killed CRPF jawaans

New Delhi, July 27

The Chattisgarh police on arrested a wanted Naxalite leader Tiger Honnga who was involved in the 2018 Improvised explosive device (IED) attack against Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) battalion.

The Sukma police stated that the police was looking for Hoonga who is a Naxalite commander since 2013 and was involved in 17 major Naxalite operations in the Kistaram area of the state.

The police said that the Naxalite commander played a main role in the IED blast of 2018 IED. 

Nine Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers were killed  in an IED blast targeting a Mine Proof Vehicle (MPV) in Sukma, days after security forces neutralised 10 Maoists in an encounter in Bijapur district.

The Chattisgarh police was on a lookout for Honnga since 2013 since he joined the naxal groups and became a commandant. 

The police added that he was also involved in the looting and killing of local villagers.
