Clashes erupted between students at BHU

New Delhi, August 27

The student of two hostels reportedly clashed with each other in Banaras Hindu University (BHU) leading to major law and order situation the university campus.

The police said five students and one police personnel has been injured in the incident so far. However, the numbers of injured students and others are still being ascertained.

The police said that the clashes started between Rajaram hostel and Birla hostel students at the cafeteria where students were having meals. A scuffle between a few students turned into violence and stone pelting.

The violence grew serious when students even pelted petrol bombs at each other leaving several students injured.

The Varanasi police have deployed additional forces to control the situation including PAC. The police stated that a case has been registered and investigations will proceed following primary inquiry on the resons behind the clashes.
