Counter Terrorism expert IPS officer, Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, now posted in J&K Police to strengthen the security in the valley

The anti-terrorism expert and known for his thorough investigations in the Batla House Encounter, IPS officer Sanjeev Kumar Yadav is going has joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police strengthening the security forces in J&K Police. 

An IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre was recently transferred to J&K Police as Divisional Commandant, Home Guards in Jammu, after serving a spectacular innings with the Delhi Police. 

He has been a recipient of 11 President’s Gallantry Medal for exemplary services this year, adding a feather to the cap of achievements he has earned while working as one of the most trusted IPS officers in cases of terrorism, narco terrorism and organized crime busting some key terror network syndicates. 

Sanjeev Kumar Yadav is a name synonymous to Batla House encounter investigation and key anti-terror operations as a part of the Special Cell of Delhi Police since 2004. 

Speaking of Batla House encounter, Sanjeev Yadav’s work and life during the encounter case investigation was portrayed in the John Abraham starrer Bollywood movie, Batla House. The movie depicted the team of Special Cell led by deceased Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and supervised by officer, Sanjeev Yadav. The operation at Batla House was carried out after September 13, 2008 serial blasts in Delhi that killed 30 persons and injured hundreds. 

The terrorists from Indian Mujaihideen behind the serial blasts were found to be living in Batla House in Jamia Nagar where the Special Cell team had cracked down. While Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma was injured and later succumbed to his injuries, two terrorists identified as Atif Amin and Mohmmad Sajid were neutralized. The killing of Atif Amin, the chief bomber of IM was a blow to the terrorist forces. 

Sanjeev Yadav has led over 55 encounter operations in which around 75 terrorists and gangsters were neutralized. 

Yadav led the investigations in Delhi serial blast (2005) in which Abu Hujefa was neutralized in Srinagar. Similarly, the high profile cases of Israel Diplomat’s car blast in 2012, UP court blast 2012, 2008 serial blasts in Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Surat and Delhi, 2008 Jama Masjid bazaar shootout case, 2010 German Bakery blast of Pune, 2011 Chinnaswamy stadium IPL match blast, 2006 Mumbai blasts where dreaded terrorist Abu Jundal was arrested and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. 

Sanjeev Yadav, is the officer who has nibbed the bud of the Indian Mujaihideen from the country that was involved in several blasts cases and terror attacks. The continuous operations of the Delhi Police Special Cell led to discovery of sleeper cell of SIMI (Student Islamic Movement of India) and Indian Mujaideen (IM). 

Yadav and his team had also made exemplary investigation in the IPL spot fixing case of 2011 where players of Rajasthan Royals were allegedly found involved. 

He is the only officer to have investigated with 44 terror cases and arrested more than 100 terrorists from various proscribed organizations of Indian Mujiahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohmmad, Hizbul Mujaiahideen, Khalistani terror groups, Babar Khalsa International, Kangleipal Communist Party of North East and other groups in North East waging war against the government.

His addition to the J&K Police that has been at the forefront of anti-terror operations and has been carrying out several key operations alongwith the security forces of the country will bolster the force. 

Yadav is an ace shooter and has been recipient of Indian Shooting Team Silver Medalist SAF Games 2019 Bronze Medalist World Shooting Championship 2019 Suhl Germany.
