Dalit girl rape murder crematorium case:- Delhi Police transfers case to the crime branch, Delhi CM announces compensation

New Delhi, August 4
The Delhi Police have transferred the rape and murder of a Dalit girl at the crematorium to Delhi Crime Branch for speedy investigations.
The victim, nine-year-old girl in Delhi was allegedly raped, murdered and forcibly cremated by the accused.
The accused had allegedly convinced the parents that the girl died of electrocution and asked them not to inform the police, saying that getting the cops involved in the matter would only complicate it.
The incident took place in Nangal village of Delhi Cantonment area.
The police identified the accused as Radhey Shyam, Kuldeep, Laxmi Narayan and Salim who were arrested subsequently. While Radhey Shyam is the priest at the crematorium, others were his acquaintances.
According to police, the girl had stepped out of her house at around 5:30 pm on August 1 to get cold water from the water cooler at the crematorium but never returned.
At 6 pm, the priest of the crematorium, Radhey Shyam and others known to the mother of minor girl called her to the crematorium and showed the girl's body, saying that she got electrocuted while drinking water from the water cooler.
The priest and the other men then asked girl's mother not to call the police, saying that this would lead to a case and eventually a postmortem, where the girl's organs will be stolen.
The girl was then cremated without the mother's consent. She then raised an alarm and called her husband, following which around 200 villagers also gathered at the crematorium and informed the police, officials said.
As per the police, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the priest has been arrested.
Hundreds of locals, including the minor girl’s parents, have been staging a protest near the site of the crime in the Old Nangal area, calling for capital punishment for the accused.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who met the child’s family announced that a compensation of Rs 10 lakh would be provided to the girl’s family. He has also ordered for magisterial inquiry's.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also met the girl's fanily. He tweeted, “The daughter of a Dalit is also a daughter of this country".
Bahujan Samaj Party Chief Mayawati demanded stringent action against the culprits in the case. “The brutal murder of a nine-year-old Dalit girl after rape and then burning her body in Nangal village of Delhi Cantonment is very sad and shameful. BSP demands strict action against the culprits and necessary steps to prevent recurrence of such incidents.”
Bhim Army Chief Chandra Shekhar Azad and his party members met the protestors and demanded strict and immediate action in the case.
