Delhi CP Rakesh Asthana inaugurated “How to Start a Business” in a three day workshop for YUVA trainees and police family members

New Delhi, August 25
The Commissioner of Police Delhi Rakesh Asthana today inaugurated “How to Start a Business”, a three day workshop for YUVA trainees and police family members at Adarsh Auditorium at the Police Headquarters.
The three day Hybrid Workshop (Physical & Online) is being organized by Delhi Police in association with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) from August 25 to 27 to provide trainees a comprehensive knowledge of setting up a business and run it successfully, generating a novel & positive approach towards entrepreneurship.
The workshop has a module on Interview Skills and CV writing. The training is conducted by professional trainers of M/s Maclead Certification simultaneously at the venue and on online platform. Experts from fields like Banks, MSME Division, Chartered Accountancy, Legal Firms, Digital Marketing professionals and successful entrepreneurs will address the trainees to share their valuable inputs & life experiences for practical understanding and motivation of the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, CP Delhi Rakesh Asthana congratulated the trainees and the trainers for joining hands with Delhi Police and India’s premier industry body CII to empower themselves and set example for others to follow. Shri Asthana recalled how the mention of police was being used in every household to scare their naughty kids. “However, community-oriented initiatives like YUVA has dramatically changed the perception of police into that of a friend and helper,” he said. People have now experienced and realized that police helps them out in difficult times. “The community policing programmes have played a role in not only helping police, but also changing the perception about police,” the CP Delhi said. Pragrammes like YUVA is for those youth who got diverted to crime due to stress of poverty and family conditions in order to integrate them with the mainstream. It is also for those who opt for skilled training to gain employment.
Asthana announced that Delhi Police will gradually extend this programme in all the police stations to expand the trainee base to meet the target of “Mission-10000”. He also urged that children of police persons should also get engaged with YUVA.
Rakesh Asthana also gave an example as to how the humanitarian face of police can bring about a constructive change in the life of an individual. He cited an incident during his tenure as CP Surat, when a young educated girl was found remotely connected in a sensitive case and she was counseled and encouraged to resume her further studies. Later on, the girl successfully got selected in a premiere service.
In concluding remarks the CP Delhi motivated the trainees and underlined that nothing is impossible, and one can keep on doing well for oneself, one’s family, for overall betterment of the society and the nation.
YUVA is a flagship community policing initiative of Delhi Police to provide job oriented training and skill development to the underprivileged youth to create employment avenues so that the world of despair and crime do not take them over.
The objective of YUVA is to engage & steer street children and youth towards the mainstream of society, by providing them with opportunities to realize their potential and to create awareness about their strength through Skill Development Training.
Under YUVA, Delhi Police is helping the target youth in attaining various skills and getting jobs, in association with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), CII and other Training Partners. As on 31.07.2021, total 12722 candidates have completed their training from which 7631 (Male-4669 and Female-2962) have got jobs in various sectors through 55 job fairs and 73 in-house placement drives.
This year, Delhi Police has taken the YUVA skill training initiative to the next level by rolling out a drive to train 10000 youth in health care sector to augment the capital city’s requirement for an effective healthcare workforce. ‘Emergency Medical Technician’ and ‘General Duty Attendant’ courses were started for YUVA trainees to meet with growing requirement of general healthcare workers inter alia General Duty Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Ambulance Driver, Domestic Covid Health Worker, Home Care Assistant etc.
Around 1400 candidates have so far been enrolled under “Mission-10000” for training, 10 in-house placement drives have taken place and 171 candidates have been placed in various hospitals & Labs.
The CP Delhi also felicitated Jasmeet Singh, DCP Central district, Pranav Tayal, DCP Rohini district, M/s Star Imaging and M/s Lal Pathlabs as the “Star Performer in Mission 10,000.
Presenting the industry viewpoint, Namita Gautam of Sleepwell Foundation & CII, narrated the ascent of her mother-in-law Sheela Gautam, who became a widow at 38 year of age, but took a risk to become an entrepreneur to start Sheela Foam Company by taking Rs. 2.5 lakhs loan that has now grown into a global enterprise “Sleepwell Matress”. “Take up the call and one day your story will be told”, she urged the participants.
Devesh Chander Shrivastava, Spl CP EOW & Crime gave the welcome address and narrated the journey of YUVA from 2017 to till date in establishing new milestones of police-public relations.
Madhav Singhania, Vice Chairman, CII Delhi exhorted the trainees to become agents of social change by becoming job creaters instead of job seekers.
